The Pieve of Tuani

Pieve di Tuani

Stretching from the inland peaks to the shores of L’Osari – Losari –, the former parish of Tuani occupies a central position in the Lisula landscape. Historically centred around the Church of San Giovanni Battista and the Tuani Convent in Costa, this place retains the mark of a centuries-old agricultural and religious tradition.

From Belgudè – Belgodère – to Speluncatu – Speloncato –, via Ochjatana – Occhiatana –, Costa and E Ville di Parasu – Ville-di-Paraso –, the villages overlook the Reginu valley, where centuries-old olive groves, pastures and market gardens border unspoilt natural areas. The Bocca di Battaglia pass and the mule tracks are a reminder of the historic links connecting this part of the Balagne to the Ghjunsani and the neighbouring pieve.

Between the villages’ built heritage, the shores of Lake Cotule – Codole – and the protected coastline of L’Osari – Losari – the villages of Tuani exemplifies the diversity of Lisula’s landscapes, shaped by olive-growing, pastoralism and craftsmanship that remain deeply rooted in everyday life in the Balagne.
