Coming to Corsica

Coming to Corsica

Getting to Corsica is part of the journey in itself. The ferry crossing gradually reveals the island’s coastline; the aeroplane reveals its terrain in a matter of moments. For a stay in Lisula, there are several ports and airports offering access to northern Corsica, close to the Balagne region. The holiday can finally begin.

Getting there

By boat

Travelling by ferry offers a notable advantage: L’Isula – L’Ile-Rousse has its own commercial port. Ferry crossings provide direct links between Balagne and several ports on the French and Italian mainland. As you approach, the islands of La Pietra and the town gradually come into view, before you dock right in the heart of the destination.

Bastia, Corsica’s main port, greatly enhances the options for arriving by ferry thanks to the frequency and variety of its services. Further south, Ajaccio, Propriano and Porto-Vecchio are other entry points, particularly worth considering for a road trip across several regions of the island.

Finally, the ferry allows you to travel to Corsica with your own vehicle, be it a car, a motorbike or a bicycle… Whether you choose a day or night crossing, arriving directly at L’Isula or via another port, you can tailor your journey to suit your preferences. And if you’re looking for an eco-friendly alternative, a sailing boat crossing allows you to dock directly in Balagne.

By plane

With four international airports, Corsica is connected to the mainland and the rest of Europe all year round, with a choice of destinations that expands during the high season. For a stay in Lisula, Calvi Sainte-Catherine is the nearest airport (25 minutes’ drive away), whilst Bastia Poretta offers another option for arriving in the north of the island (50 minutes’ drive away). Ajaccio and Figari complete the air links to Corsica for those on a tour of the island.

On arrival, car hire agencies and taxis are available at the airports to help you continue your journey. As services, airlines and routes change with the seasons, you can check the latest flight schedules and information on the official websites before you set off.
