The Diary

In Balagne and Lisula, the events calendar tells part of the region’s story. A cultural heritage lives on in the festivals, fairs and gatherings that bring the villages together, whilst music, cinema, theatre and contemporary art are writing new chapters. In Pigna, Festivoce brings voices and music to life; in L’Ile-Rousse, A Fiera di L’Isula – the L’Ile-Rousse fair – keeps alive one of the great popular autumn events.

This cultural life extends right into the inland villages. In Lama, cinema takes over the village during its Film Festival; in Ghjunsani, the International Theatre Festival sets up its stage in the valley. Alongside these highlights, concerts, exhibitions, festivals, gatherings and sporting events make up the calendar for Lisula and the Balagne region throughout the year, ranging from eagerly anticipated events to more niche offerings.
