The sea turned upside down

Underwater: Lisula’s other world

Snorkelling or diving

Whether from the beach or aboard a boat, it takes just a few metres to discover a world you never knew existed. In Lisula, the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean reveal underwater landscapes where fish, gorgonians, rocky crevices and Posidonia seagrass beds coexist. The experience often begins with simply putting on a mask.

The deep blue sea within reach of your fins

The first sensation is often silence. Underwater, the seabed gradually comes into view: rocky outcrops, small canyons, schools of silvery sea bream or swarms of damselfish. Setting off from the port of L’Isula – L’Ile-Rousse, instructors from the diving clubs accompany both beginners and experienced divers on suitable dives.

Introductory dives allow you to experience breathing underwater and weightlessness in complete safety. More experienced divers set off on half-day or full-day explorations, sometimes around the wreck of the B-17 ‘Bombardier’ in the Gulf of Calvi or as far as the wild coastline of Agriate, weather permitting.

With each dive, you’ll learn to observe the finer details, spot movements in the blue and let yourself be amazed by this silent world.

A spectacle right by the water’s edge

You don’t need a scuba tank to enjoy the experience. With a mask, a snorkel and a few kicks of your fins, the coves of Bodri, Ghjunchitu and Caruchettu offer plenty to explore.

In the shallow waters, the Posidonia seagrass beds are home to numerous species. Wrasse, gobies, octopuses and small fish can be found amongst the rocks, especially on windless mornings when the sea is clearer.

To take things a step further, guided snorkelling excursions offer a different way to discover the coastline. The guides share their knowledge about the species spotted, the Posidonia seagrass beds and the fragile balance of this Mediterranean ecosystem.

Memories that stay with you

That first breath underwater. A school of fish swimming across your field of vision. Light dancing on the white sand. An unexpected encounter round the corner of a rock. Diving and snorkelling often leave memories that are very different from those of other holiday activities.

In Lisula, these experiences offer, above all, a new way of discovering the Mediterranean. No longer from the beach or the deck of a boat, but right at the heart of this teeming underwater world that borders the shore. An invitation to slow down, to observe and to see the sea in a new light.
