Description
The Associu Spurtivu A Paolina organizes the A Paolina race, an event combining sport and history: 70 km of road running between sea and mountains, individually, in teams of 2, 4 or 8, and in run & bike format, from L'Ile-Rousse to the village of Morosaglia.
On September 4, 1889, the ship Le Comte Valery docked at L’Ile-Rousse with General Paoli’s ashes on board. A procession then set out from the port for Morosaglia, his birthplace, to lay his ashes to rest there.
One hundred years later, in 1989, the A Paolina association was founded to commemorate this historic event through a unique race that combines sports, history, and culture. Recognized by Jogging International magazine, the A Paolina race ranks among the 50 most beautiful races in the world.
The race covers 70 km on roads, winding between the sea and the mountains, from L’Ile-Rousse to Morosaglia, with 1,790 m of elevation gain.
The route passes through Monticello, Belgodère, Occhiatana, Olmi-Cappella, Castifao, Moltifao, and Ponte-Leccia.
Upon arrival in Morosaglia, participants will enjoy a convivial meal accompanied by Corsican songs, followed by an awards ceremony to bring this wonderful adventure to a close. Throughout the day, visitors can tour the Pasquale Paoli Museum, free of charge for all participants and accompanying guests.
