The Battaglia Pass

A benchmark climb

Battaglia Challenge

The climb up the Col de Battaglia is characterised by its steady gradient. The effort builds gradually, with no real chance to recover, which requires experienced cyclists to manage their pace and breathing effectively. The challenge can start from Speluncatu – Speloncato or form part of the Bocca di Battaglia cycle tour loop. The hairpin bends of this mountain road follow one after another without respite; the altitude rises and the landscape changes with every turn of the pedals. More than just an endurance climb, this challenge is an unforgettable journey of self-discovery.

The panorama as the finishing line

After this challenge, reserved for well-equipped cyclists who are confident in their stamina, the final, welcome metres come into view on the last push. The summit is just a few turns of the pedals away. A kilometre marker awaits the courageous explorer, symbolising a well-deserved break, the sustained effort and the distance covered. It’s time to capture this achievement, with – if the sky is clear – the Balagne and the Mediterranean as a unique backdrop. It is time to make an important choice: head back down to quench your thirst at one of the cafés in Speluncatu, or continue the adventure in the Pieve du Ghjunsani. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.
