Family walks

Walking: a life-size exploration of the landscape

Family walks

In Lisula, walking is suitable for children of all ages. Some routes around L’Ile-Rousse are particularly well suited to first-time walkers. With no long distances or steep climbs, they allow everyone to walk at their own pace and take the time to enjoy a front-row seat to unspoilt natural beauty.

Here is a selection of five accessible walks, ideal for a family outing.

A walk for everyone 1. Funtana Suprana

Short and easy, this walk starting from the Saint-François Sports Centrein Munticellu -Monticello is ideal for those new to walking. Approximately 1.5 kilometres long, the route has a gentle gradient, is easy to follow and allows walkers to proceed at a pace suitable for everyone. The path winds through peaceful surroundings and leads to the Funtana Suprana spring, where walkers can enjoy a refreshing break.

Around the historic gardens 2. The Sant’Andria loops

The Sant’Andria circular walks invite you to explore the villages of Filicetu – Feliceto or Nesce – Nessa, depending on the route you choose. These routes follow old country lanes and pass through former cultivated gardens, leading to the old Genoese bridge spanning the River Reginu. Lasting around 1 hour 30 minutes, this idyllic walk takes place largely in the shade of olive trees, where walkers can let themselves be gently lulled by the sound of the water flowing in the river.

A path of remembrance  3. From Forcili to Pioggiola

This easy walk follows an old track once used by the inhabitants of the hamlet ofGhjunsani-Giussani. Largely shaded by chestnut trees, the walk winds its way alongside low stone walls that mark the boundaries of old gardens and orchards. The route offers the chance to discover several remnants of the rural heritage of the hamlet of Pioggiula -Pioggiola, such as an old bread oven, threshing floors – aghje – and the bridges spanning the Francione.

A valley by the sea 4. The Algajola Loop

At 7 kilometres long and with a gentle gradient, this walk takes just over 2 hours 30 minutes to complete. It is suitable for walkers wishing to extend the duration of their outing, including those with children who are used to walking. Starting from the villageof Algajola, the route crosses a farmland valley, follows former cultivated land and crosses a stream. The return journey takes you along the village’s vast beach, offering the chance to take a refreshing break by the sea.

Whilst ‘caution is the mother of safety’, when setting off, it is advisable to cross the T30 road at the pedestrian crossing by the roundabout. It should also be noted that in the event of heavy rain, crossing the stream may prove more difficult, particularly with children.

A scenic route 5. From Corbara to Carbunaghja

This route begins on the hills above the village of Curbara – Corbara and follows ancient cobbled paths. It passes several fountains and offers breathtaking views of the beaches at Bodri and Ghjunchitu.

The route leads to the hamlet of Carbunaghja, with a short stretch along a quiet road, before heading back up towards the village through the gardens and cobbled alleyways. This route also offers the chance to explore the village’s craft workshops and, depending on the time of year, to visit Guy Savelli’s private museum.
