At the L'Ostriconi cheese dairy, the Sammarcelli family perpetuates ancestral know-how. Farmhouse brocciu, direct sales, selected Corsican ewes: here, quality, authenticity and transmission are at the heart of every cheese.
The L'Ostriconi cheese dairy is above all a story of family and passion, rooted in Corsican soil for centuries. The Sammarcelli family, who have lived in Haute-Corse since the 13th century, have been farmers from generation to generation. Jean-François has been carrying on this tradition since 1981, when he took over the family farm that had been left fallow. Joined by his younger brother Philippe, he opted for quality agriculture, focusing on improving milk production rather than expanding the flock, which now numbers 180 ewes.
Jean-François, an active member of the Organisme de Sélection de la brebis corse, personally oversees the production of brocciu, the island's emblematic product. Philippe looks after the flock, while Jean-François's wife Anne looks after production and sales. A family division that reflects the harmony and rigor of their work.
The new cheese dairy, inaugurated in 2024, has been designed to make the most of the quality and authenticity of the products. True to their philosophy, the Sammarcelli family favors direct sales from the farm, guaranteeing an ultra-short circuit with no intermediaries. Their stated aim is to offer fair prices that are accessible to all. "We don't work with a niche product, but with an everyday product rooted in our culture.
