Join Edel, a passionate guide, on a journey down memory lane starting from Urtaca. This 5-kilometer walk takes you back to the rural past of the Ostriconi Valley, past sheepfolds, terraced fields, and wheat fields.
Edel, who is passionate about history and nature, invites you to discover the landscapes and rural heritage of the Ostriconi Valley.
Starting from the village of Urtaca, this 5-km round-trip heritage hike follows an old path that once connected the villages of Urtaca and Lama. Along the way, remnants of a way of life once shaped by farming and herding come into view: sheepfolds, haylofts, threshing floors, dry-stone walls, centuries-old olive trees, and terraced fields bear witness to the ingenuity and hard work of past generations.
The trail leads to the medieval village of Lama, founded in the 13th century, where cobblestone alleys and beautiful mansions inspired by Tuscan architecture evoke the region’s rich rural past.
With an elevation gain of 230 m, this accessible walk also offers magnificent views of the Canale Valley and the surrounding landscapes. Combining nature, history, and panoramic views, this immersion into the heart of the local heritage provides a deeper understanding of life in the past and the close ties between the inhabitants and their environment.
