Description
L’Aria is offering a workshop titled “An Introduction to Mask Acting,” led by Guy Freixe. Discover neutral masks, expressive masks, and the art of theatrical performance through improvisation and classic texts, from Shakespeare to Molière.
Workshop – An Introduction to Masked Acting
- Learning Objectives -
• Discover, practice, and master the key principles of masked acting, using full-face and half-face masks.
• Develop physical expression to convey emotions through the body: postures, gestures, and movements.
• Integrate masked acting techniques so they can be applied even after the mask is removed.
- Methodology -
• The method is based on individual and group improvisation to develop and “strengthen” the imagination. Participants will begin with free improvisation around themes, then work with scenes to identify their structure, the stakes involved, and the characters’ emotions. Finally, they will perform scenes memorized by heart, while maintaining the freedom, spontaneity, and presence characteristic of improvisation.
